Livia was born in Germany to parents of German and Tunisian descent but grew up in the Middle East. In 2016 Livia returned to Germany but moved to the Netherlands soon after to study Clinical Psychology in Leiden. She also lived in Belgium for several months during her research internship. Livia speaks German and English fluently and intermediate Dutch and French.
Livia is currently working on finishing her double master’s degree in MSc in Clinical Psychology & research MSc in Clinical and Health Psychology at Leiden University. Following her studies, Livia aspires to work in the clinical domain where she plans to integrate the latest research findings to complement clinical work with clients. She is particularly interested in understanding and supporting individuals suffering from compulsive behaviors and trauma and combining techniques from CBT, ACT, and IFS to support therapeutic goals.
Having grown up as a TCK herself, Livia understands and has experienced the challenges and confusion that individuals may encounter living as an expat. She has worked with atypically developing children from different nationalities and has developed a strong cultural awareness and sensitivity over the years.
Despite the challenges, Livia has come to love and appreciate the experiences and skills that growing up as a TCK in an international environment brings and hopes to support young children, adolescents, and their families on their own multicultural journeys.
